Our Approach to Language Learning

Experience

Creative Collaboration

Purposeful Play

With over twenty years of working with students of all ages and all levels, our approach is time-tested and yet ever-evolving.

We have come to learn that collaboration is an essential part of learning a language, for a variety of reasons!  Not only is communication - often thought of as a negotiation of meaning - all about collaboration, but it is also a key part of our work in making sure that our time together is meeting your needs and interests.  We take a team approach to how we meet your goals as a student, and strive to ensure that those goals are met at every step along the way.

At Tres Ríos, our approach is based on just a few key components, all tied to our community of learners - engaging classes, one-on-one coaching, and real-world conversation.

Our Team

Jennifer Colestock, Chief Spanish Officer - National Board Certified Teacher of Spanish with over two decades of experience working with students of all ages and at all levels.  She currently directs the curricular and instructional side of the business, and is in charge of marketing, client outreach, etc.

James Colestock, Business & Technical Advisor - Educator and Technologist with over two decades of experience in a variety of roles and capacities in different industries and environments.  He is currently developing the platform on which Tres Ríos 2.0 will exist.

James and Jennifer are also supported by the two younger, furrier, members of the Tres Ríos team, Dooder Ann and Li’l Fuego.  What they lack in technical or language skills, they make up for in snuggles and stress-relief.

Our Students

Our students come from all over!  With our mix of online and in-person offerings, we currently have students in multiple states, time zones, and countries, and at all stages of their language-learning journey!

Our students are pursuing language study for a variety of reasons: travel, potential retirement relocation, as a way to serve others in their own community, or simply because they have a desire to finally start speaking a language they have always wanted to learn.
